YouTube rolls out Playables that will let you game on the platform

YouTube is all set to roll out a Premium-only feature that will soon let users game on the platform. In a move to bring forth more Premium subscriptions and attract a niche set of audiences, ‘Playables’ by YouTube is all set to be an exclusive feature offered by the video streaming platform. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

YouTube Playables: What should you expect?

YouTube Playables will give users access to a host of games without having to install a completely new app. The primary idea behind this move was to prevent the downloading of additional apps and provide an all-around experience on its primary mobile app. YouTube also mentions how the games will be arcade games that will be available to users across their smartphone apps and the YouTube website on their laptops.

While this feature is currently undergoing multiple tests, it will soon allow easy-to-share games for users who are subscribed to the platform.

What kind of games can you access on YouTube Playables?

While the platform is certainly not cut out for heavy gaming, several types of games are currently being tested on it. These include Solitaire, Angry Birds, and Brain Out to name a few. YouTube further plans to add more titles to its list and expand its selection for users soon.

The feature will be accessible via two tabs — Home and Browse. The Home tab will list all the recently played games, providing quick access to them. Similarly, the Browse tab will allow users to go through the existing library and pick a new game to begin with. The Browse tab will feature about 37 games; however, YouTube certainly plans on adding more to this bank as time progresses.

While the feature is only available for beta testing and Premium subscribers as of today, YouTube plans on rolling it out for all its audiences early next year. Hit or not, we’re sure this feature will have us all spending a lot more time on the video streaming platform!
