YouTube has announced the global launch of YouTube Playables, a sub-section of the video-streaming platform that will offer a variety of free mini-games for users. Initially, the feature was available only to YouTube Premium subscribers in select regions. Now, all YouTube users will be able to play games when they’re not watching videos.
However, there is a catch here. While YouTube Playables are now available to everyone, the feature may still take months to arrive on your device due to a phased rollout.
How to access YouTube Playables
To check whether you have access to YouTube Playables’ games, you can open up YouTube on the web and scroll down the left-hand menu. You should find Playables under the Explore section.

On the YouTube app on iPhones and Android phones, you can tap on the compass-shaped icon on the top-left, and scroll down until you see the Playables section.
There are currently over 75 games available in the section, including titles like Angry Birds Showdown and Cut the Rope. Simply tap on any game to get started. Games in Playables will be synced to your Google account, and as a result, you will be able to save progress and keep track of all-time best scores.
If you don’t see the YouTube Playables option in the explore section just yet, you need to wait for the feature to be available to you.
YouTube is not the only streaming platform to adopt games. Netflix already has a bunch of games included as a part of its subscription (irrespective of what plan you have), including titles like Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Edition.
