YouTube’s AI Audio Eraser tool will let you silence copyrighted songs in your video

If you’re a YouTube creator, chances are you already know about the struggles with an audio getting a copyright strike. As a user, there’s probably nothing more painstaking than finding the right video, only to know it has been silenced with a copyright issue.

But YouTube has rolled out a tool that might just help combat this for both users and creators. The new AI Audio Eraser tool will soon allow creators to mute the audio in question with only a click — and if that’s not all, it will also leave any other audio in the video intact.

YouTube Erase Song tool: What it is and how it will work

YouTube recently launched its Erase Song feature to help users avoid copyright claims. The video-streaming company earlier made the tool available in beta, but has now begun to roll it out to a larger audience. According to YouTube, the tool will utilise an ‘AI-powered algorithm’ for creators to identify and isolate copyrighted audio tracks from the rest of their audio, such as sound effects or dialogues.

That said, this feature may or may not be a hundred per cent accurate and, users may still have to mute the entire section where it falters. Apart from this, creators can also consider cutting it out as an alternative option.

YouTube and AI: What else is new?

YouTube seems to be keen on introducing various other AI tools to improve its user and creator experience on the platform. Only recently, the brand introduced a tool that can help users skip to the best parts of the video. The jump ahead feature appears like a “pill-shaped” icon which can take users to the most viewed part of the video.

Google also announced a host of AI features for YouTube in June, which included AI summarisation for the comments section. Apart from this, it also mentioned how YouTube will have a conversational tool, which will allow users to ask questions about the video, get related recommendations, and also provide fun quizzes in the case of academic videos.

When will the AI Erase tool be available on YouTube?

YouTube mentioned how the AI Erase tool will be available to all users in the coming weeks, and the brand seems to be making it available in a phased manner. Apart from this, the company in conclusion also stated that it will be available to both smartphone and laptop YouTube Studio apps as well.
