Xiaomi recently launched its latest compact flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 15. The device comes with an updated design and has a new chipset, but is it any better than its predecessor – Xiaomi 14?
In this article, we’ll delve into the specifications and features of the phones and compare both models side-by-side, telling you the exact difference between the two. So, read on.
Xiaomi 15 vs Xiaomi 14: Design and display
Xiaomi 15 is Xiaomi’s latest compact flagship that builds on the design of the Xiaomi 14. The smartphone retains the square camera island that holds three cameras. It features a boxy design with a flat screen for better viewability.
Both models have the same screen size, i.e. a 6.36-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1200 x 2760 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both have Dolby Vision-certified panels with HDR10+ support.
However, the Xiaomi 15 gets a slightly brighter panel, with 3,200 nits of peak brightness over 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Xiaomi says that the Xiaomi 15’s glass is shatterproof, whereas, Xiaomi 14 has a Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Xiaomi 15 vs Xiaomi 14: Cameras
Since the Xiaomi 15 is a premium smartphone from Xiaomi, it comes with a great set of cameras. It boasts a triple-rear camera system with a 50MP main lens with dual-pixel PDAF and OIS support for stable footage.

The main camera is assisted by a 50MP telephoto lens that’s 60mm wide. There’s also a 50MP ultrawide lens with a 115-degree field of view. The Xiaomi 14 has almost the same camera system, except for the telephoto lens, which has a 75mm focal length.
Both cameras can record 8K videos, thanks to the chip inside. Both phones have a 32MP camera with support for 4K video recording at up to 60fps. Two of the models can also record LOG videos. So, overall, there’s not a big difference in the camera specifications, but the real-life results are still very different.
Xiaomi 15 vs Xiaomi 14: Performance, battery, software
The Xiaomi 15 comes with the newer, more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is a 3nm chipset. The processor is paired with Adreno 820 GPU for performing graphical tasks.
One department where Xiaomi 15 shines is the battery. The device packs a larger 5,400mAh cell with 90W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging support. For comparison, the Xiaomi 14 houses a smaller 4,610mAh cell with the same wired and wireless charging support.

Xiaomi 15 runs on Android 15 out of the box with HyperOS 2 on top, whereas, the Xiaomi 14 boots on Android 14. Although, you will still get the Android 15 update on your device.
If you are someone who owns a Xiaomi 14, then you may not need to necessarily upgrade, unless you want an even faster performance and a better battery life.
For those who are confused about buying the two, the Xiaomi 15 is obviously a better option considering its specifications, including the larger battery and performance gains. However, be prepared to spend more, and wait, since the phone is yet to launch in India.
