Xiaomi 15 series could be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, sport 120Hz OLED display

It’s been just about three months since Xiaomi first unveiled the Xiaomi 14 series smartphones in China. The devices are yet to make their debut in several international markets including India as of now. However, several rumours have already begun to surface about the company’s next flagships – likely to be dubbed the Xiaomi 15 series. Here’s everything we know about Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphones.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Processor

A post on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging site), by tipster Smart Pikachu suggests that the Xiaomi 15 series is expected to be powered by what is likely the successor to Qualcomm’s current flagship SoC for smartphones – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Reports suggest that the processor will likely be named the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This is in line with an earlier leak from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo as well. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already an extremely potent processor, which, in addition to being more powerful and efficient than its predecessor, also brings AI capabilities from the cloud right to your devices. If this is anything to go by, we can safely expect the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to be the same, and perhaps, more.

120Hz refresh rate OLED display

According to a leak in December 2023, again from Digital Chat Station, the base model of the Xiaomi 15 is expected to sport a 6.36-inch OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz. This is corroborated by a recent leak from Smart Pikachu, who adds that the display may come with a 1.5K resolution. In addition to this, the display is expected to get flat edges and come with a peak brightness of up to 1.400 nits. The Xiaomi 15 Pro on the other hand, is expected to get a 2K display with thinner bezels as compared to its predecessor – at 0.6mm as compared to the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s 0.9mm bezels.

There isn’t much else to go on, since details regarding the batteries and the cameras on the Xiaomi 15 series still remain tightly under wraps as of now.

All of these are extremely early leaks, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Moreover, Xiaomi itself hasn’t made any announcements regarding the Xiaomi 15 series yet. However, we’re keeping our eyes peeled for any more news on the devices. Watch this space for more.
