Xiaomi 15 series announced with Snapdragon 8 Elite chip

Xiaomi has just announced the Xiaomi 15, its newest flagship, with the newest flagship chip from Qualcomm. As usual, we have multiple models, a lot of high-end hardware and even a software revamp to cover.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Xiaomi 15 series, including the Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

Xiaomi 15 Pro: What’s new?

The Xiaomi 15 Pro comes with a 6.73-inch OLED display panel with LTPO tehc, allowing foir variable refresh rate up to 120Hz. The panel alco comes with a peak brightness of 3,200nits and a 1,440 x 3,200 pixels resolution. To prevent scratches, the phone’s front comes with the Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0 tech.

Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is clubbed with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. The Xiaomi 15 Pro also sports an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which should allow for quicker, more accurate fingerprint recognition.

Coming to the cameras, we get the same 50MP OmniVision Light Fusion 900 sensor from the Xiaomi 14, now paired with a new 50MP periscope camera with 5x zoom doubling as a tele-macro sensor too. There is also a third 50MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front camera.

Xiaomi has also bumped up the battery to 6,100mAh, along with 90W wired charging and 50W proprietary wireless charging support. Lastly, the phone comes with Android 15, with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 skin on top.

Xiaomi 15: What’s new?

For those looking for something a little more compact, there is the vanilla Xiaomi 15. The phone comes with a 6.36-inch 1.5K display with narrow 1.38mm bezels. The panel can also go up to 3,200nits and allows for variable refresh rate up to 120Hz.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset too, and features a very similar camera setup as the Xiaomi 15 Pro, with the only difference being a 3.2x zoom on the periscope camera.

There’s also a 5,400mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone also comes with Android 15 based HyperOS 2.

Xiaomi 15 series: Pricing and availability

Available in China in four colours (Grey, White, Green and Rock Silver), The Xiaomi 15 Pro starts at CNY 5,299 (about Rs 62,430). The Xiaomi 15, meanwhile, starts at CNY 4,499 (about Rs 53,000). It remains to be seen how the phones are priced when they come to India.
