Xiaomi 14 Ultra rumour roundup: What to expect from the company’s latest flagship

Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro have been around for a while now, having gone on sale in China as long ago as October 2023. The company also confirmed that it will be launching the devices in other international markets just a day ahead of MWC 2024, on February 25. The Xiaomi 14 series of smartphones, which consists of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will take on rivals  such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, the OnePlus 12 as well as the iPhone 15 series from Apple.

Exciting as that is, there are also rumours Xiaomi may unveil a third addition to the lineup – the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Social media and online forums have recently been rife with rumours around the device – the new top-of-the-line variant of the Xiaomi 14 series of flagship smartphones. Here’s everything you need to know.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Processor, battery and storage options

For starters, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, coupled to an Adreno 750 GPU. It could be made available in three RAM and storage configurations – one with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, one with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, and a third variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. All variants are also expected to sport LPPDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is tipped to pack a 5,300mAh battery unit, with support for 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Design, display and audio

Coming to its display, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to sport a 6.73-inch 2K-resolution AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,000 nits. On the audio front, the device might get dual stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, as well as a four-microphone array.

Speaking of design, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra may come encased in an aluminium frame with a vegan leather back. However, rumours also suggest that there may be a separate limited edition of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which will feature a titanium frame, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The titanium frame may just help the device take on dents, dings and drops better.

What’s more, it is also expected to come with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, which means it should be able to handle the occasional spills and splashes with ease.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Cameras

Speaking of optics, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is tipped to get a quad-camera set up at the rear, housed in a circular island with the Leica branding.

The device might get a 50MP Sony LYT-900 primary sensor with support for optical image stabilisation, a 50MP ultrawide sensor with a 115-degree field of view, a 50MP telephoto sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor.
