Xiaomi 14 series to launch globally on February 25; here’s all you need to know

Xiaomi’s latest flagship series of smartphones – the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro were launched in China in October 2023. Since then though, there’s been no word on when the smartphones would go on sale in other international markets. This also let rivals including OnePlus, Samsung and Apple, with the OnePlus 12, Samsung Galaxy S24 series, and the iPhone 15 series gain a significant first mover’s advantage globally.

That’s all set to change though. Read on to find out more.

Xiaomi 14 series global launch dates announced

Xiaomi has (finally!) confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will be launched globally on February 25, just a day before MWC 2024 starts. The devices, which will go on sale in international markets are expected to sport the same specs as their Chinese counterparts. For those unaware though, here is all you need to know about them.

Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Pro features and key specifications

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro Chinese variants are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Both devices also come with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage and come running on Android 14-based HyperOS straight out of the box.

The batteries on the smartphones are a 4,160mAh unit and 4,880mAh unit respectively, with the former having support for 90W wired fast charging, and the latter, 120W. Both devices get support for 50W wireless charging though.

Coming to the displays, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro sport 6.3-inch and 6.7-inch OLED displays respectively, with support for Dolby Vision, and LTPO. LTPO allows for a display to vary its refresh rate anywhere between 1-120Hz. For audio too, both the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro feature a similar setup – with dual stereo speakers, that also support Dolby Atmos.

Both devices sport a triple-camera setup at the rear, with the Leica branding, and get a 50MP wide, 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto lens. On the front is a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro also get support for Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Could there be a new addition to the Xiaomi 14 Series?

Rumours are that Xiaomi will also unveil a third, even higher-end addition to the Xiaomi 14 series at the launch event on February 25. Namely – the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

Not much is known about the device as of now. However, it is rumoured to sport a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC coupled with an Adreno 750 GPU and sport up to 16GB RAM as well. It might get a 6.7-inch 2K AMOLED display, with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra may also get a quad-camera setup at the rear, led by a 50MP primary sensor.

Bear in mind though, there has been no official confirmation from Xiaomi on the device, and all rumours around it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Xiaomi 14 series pricing and availability

The Xiaomi 14 smartphones are available in Jade Green, Black, White and Snow Mountain Pink colours.

In China, the Xiaomi 14 is available for a starting price of CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs 46,692), while the Xiaomi 14 Pro starts at CNY 6,499 (approximately Rs 75,882).

However, there’s been no word yet on the pricing for the devices in international markets. It is expected to be announced when the phone is launched, as mentioned above, on February 25.
