X is set to introduce a new post-sorting feature, adding more control to your homepage

X will soon let users sort posts on their timeline by recency, likes or engagement

Twitter was recently renamed to X, but the micro-blogging platform also continues to get new features, making it easier for users to operate the app. The latest in this line of features seems to be a post-sorting feature for the homepage, something Twitter users have been asking for a long time.

This feature will allow users to sort the posts (formerly tweets) on their homepage according to ‘Most recent’, ‘Most liked’ or ‘Most engaged with’. As the names suggest, the first option will show you posts in a chronological order, with newer posts appearing on top. The second option will allow users to see posts with the most likes on top, while the third option will show posts with the most engagement (likes, comments, reposts) on top.

Confirmation of the feature was given by X user Andrea Conway, also the designer at X, in a recent post on the platform. Elon Musk also commented on the post, adding that the feature will be “cool”.

In a response to another comment on the post, Conway also confirmed that X is also working on a comment sorting feature, which should go live in the near future, and should allow users to sort comments and get either recent comments or most-liked comments on a post on top.

Will post-sorting be a Twitter Blue-exclusive feature?

While the feature will be handy for users, it is still not confirmed if it will be available to all X users or only the Blue subscribers. Over the past few months, a number of features have gone behind the paywall, reportedly as a push to get more subscribers. It remains to be seen if upcoming features like the new post-sorting mechanism will also be locked behind the platform’s paywall.

In other news, Twitter owner Elon Musk reportedly continues to prepare for his MMA cage match against Meta co-founder and fellow billionaire Mark Zuckerberg. The match, which originally started as a joke in June this year, was recently confirmed by Musk when he announced that the event will be streamed on X.
