Wonderchef Nutri-blend Smart review

Adding a smart twist to blending

Wonderchef Nutri-blend Smart review

Good cooking requires time, and time is the one thing we unfortunately cannot spare. Let’s face it, despite setting the alarm an hour early, there’s only so much we can do to get our meal in place before it’s time to hit the road. But that’s also probably why we’re one step away from starting a blender fan base.

Beginning from pureeing, dry-grinding and, of course, blending, blenders do their job quickly and efficiently. Despite multiple brands offering their version, we didn’t think twice about jumping to review a ‘smart’ variant of this kitchen appliance. The smart blender by Wonderchef, christened Nutri-blend Smart, offers a fusion of a mixer grinder coupled with automatic functions. We had the opportunity to use it for a while, and here’s our review.

Design and features

At first glance, the Nutri-blend Smart looks like any other blender you’ve seen. However, it is definitely a more compact version and also heavier to hold. You can choose between five colour options, including black, white, purple, red and champagne. We used the black variant and found that it takes up little to no space on our kitchen counter. In fact, Wonderchef has also provided suction cups at the bottom of the appliance to ensure it stays transfixed onto the countertop.

Function

The blender comes with three pre-programmed functions, and they’re really hard to miss. There isn’t a traditional on or off button on the appliance either, and that’s what sets it apart. It comes with two jars, blend (500ml) and grind (300ml) that can be directly inserted into the blender for it to start working.

We found both these containers to be sturdy and air-tight, and there was no spillage pre or post-use. They even have clear, easy-to-read labels, ensuring you don’t mix the accessories. And while this detail may seem negligible, it unquestionably makes the process less prone to mix-ups or accidents.

We used the dry grinder first to prepare our millet smoothie mix. The pre-set function ran for 45 seconds and did a decent job of finely granulating the seeds, dry fruits and millets. We transferred the chopped fruits, milk and mix into the blender jar and processed it for a minute. The smoothie also turned out nice and creamy, with no trace of any of the ingredients in the blend. In fact, we even had the opportunity to use its sipper attachment and sip on it without the hassle of pouring it into a smoothie glass, and as procrastinators, this was a welcome change.

Verdict

At the launch price of Rs 7,700, we found the Nutri-blend Smart’s price tag to be a tad steep. But, at the time of filing this review, the appliance is available for less than Rs 4,000, which is fair for what’s on offer. The pre-set functions make the basic blending functions easy, and certainly worry-free. And if you, like us, are a novice at cooking, having this blender can make meal prep a breeze.

So, if you’re someone who is looking to add a bit of ‘smart’ to their kitchen, the Wonderchef Nutri-blend Smart is certainly worth considering. While they may lack the smart label, one can also look at other options in this price range, including Croma Personal 3 Jars Blender and Kuvings Nutri Pro.
