Windows 11 has been continuously evolving since its launch in 2021. With a number of features and customisation options baked into the OS over the years, Windows 11 has made laptops, tablets, and desktops much more capable and customisable. Now, Windows 11 has added a new batch of settings for advanced users, aptly called ‘Advanced Settings’.
The new Advanced Settings comes to Dev Home users (for developers) and includes options to tweak some built-in settings which users had no control over before. Here’s what you need to know.
Windows 11 Advanced Settings: What to expect
As per a Windows Latest report, the new settings panel section will allow users to easily toggle options like ‘Show file extensions’, ‘Show hidden and system files’, and ‘Show full path in title’.

You can also bring these enhancements to specific folders by tagging them from this very page, allowing you to, say, show file extensions only in the folder where you store your work files. Users can also now choose to show or hide empty drives.
Note that most of these new settings were already previously available, but they were hidden within the File Explorer settings. However, the options being in a unified panel withing the main Settings app makes them much more accessible and easier to find for newbies.
Who gets the new settings?
The new Windows 11 Advanced Settings come to users who use the Dev Home app, which developers often use to get access to more aspects of Windows for developing and optimising their apps.

Dev Home has usually featured only very technical options before, but it now seems that more users will be able to make use of the new options, most of which have to do with the File Explorer, something most Windows users deal with on a daily basis.
We hope the new Advanced Settings panel also comes soon to stable Windows 11 users, allowing everyone to customise their File Explorer windows without setting up the Dev Home app first.
