WhatsApp will soon allow you to explore more Channels

You may not have to look too far for a Channel of your interest

WhatsApp will soon allow you to explore more Channels

WhatsApp introduced Channels late last year and has been all the rage since then. Whether you’re interested in sports, films or have a favourite public figure, the feature allows you to stay up-to-date with all that is new in their world.

However, a report by WABetaInfo mentions how users will soon be able to receive Channel updates via suggestions. This feature will be brought in to fine-tune the current process and also to help users discover new Channels related to their interests. Here’s everything you need to know:

How will the new feature for WhatsApp Channels work?

As of today, users can approach Channels on WhatsApp in only a linear way. First, you open your smartphone app and tap on the Updates option in the bottom navigation bar. Scroll down to find a ‘Channels’ section with a list of topics you have followed in the past. But once you’re done following, you only have the option to ‘explore more’ and browse through a list of existing Channels on WhatsApp.

However, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.8.7 version is currently testing a feature that automatically shows you suggested topics based on the Channels you have previously followed. This could be especially helpful for those who are looking for something specific or related topics that are not covered within the current list they are following.

The report also mentions how it is currently impossible to go through a list of every Channel active on WhatsApp. Similar suggestions feature will ensure users explore a broader range of content and allow Channel owners to have the visibility they need.

When can you expect the Channel suggestion update on WhatsApp?

Android users enrolled in the WhatsApp beta program can make the most of this feature, as the instant messaging platform is currently testing it. That said, iOS users and those awaiting a stable update may have to wait a little more as the Meta-owned company hasn’t formally announced a roll-out date.
