WhatsApp lately has introduced various developments to improve user experiences. From announcing coloured chat bubbles to implementing Channels, the Meta-owned platform is constantly working towards becoming the primary form of messaging for users today.
In one such move, WhatsApp has introduced a Favourites filter option on its desktop app that will allow users to prioritise their frequently messaged contacts using custom sort. Here’s all you need to know.
WhatsApp Web Favourite filter: What is it, and what can it do?
The Favourite filter will be brought in to make calls and chats one click away. The enhancement will allow users to place calls within the tab in a quicker manner. This has been brought about to ensure important communication doesn’t take a backseat and is available for you at the top of the page. While the platform does offer an option to pin chats, the feature is limited to only to three contacts and is currently not available for users intending to place calls.

Favourite contacts, however, will be available in a separate tab and will not be a part of your contact or chat list. That said, how a user favourites the contact is still a work in progress. However, according to the screenshots shared by WABetainfo.com, this feature will be a part of chat-based filters. There is also no clarity if WhatsApp plans to have a cap on the number of favourites a person can have.
When will the Favourite filter be available for users?
The Favourite filter on WhatsApp Web is currently under development and might take a little longer to show up on the desktop app. However, a handful of iOS users have observed the feature, and it looks like WhatsApp will gradually be rolling it out for everyone.
