Meta’s decision to give Verified Businesses on WhatsApp green badges instead of the blue ticks that messaging/social media platforms are known to hand out, was weird to begin with. Other Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram meanwhile, have carried blue verified badges for years.
Thankfully, the green badges will soon be coming to and end, and WhatsApp is set to get the more universally recognisable blue ticks instead.
WhatsApp blue tick: What’s changing?
As per a new report by WABetaInfo, a reliable source when it comes to teasing pre-release WhatsApp features and changes, the platform is switching the verified badges from green to blue to WhatsApp beta for Android phones, version 2.24.14.15.

The report also adds that the blue tick “aligns the app’s visual identity with other Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram”. On WhatsApp’s official FAQ page, verified badge has also been changed to blue instead of green.
This move is however, unlikely to change what the verified badge on WhatsApp stands for. WhatsApp will continue to offer the verified badge to WhatsApp Business accounts, via one of its four packages, which offer the badge along with other perks like impersonation protection, support for linking multiple devices, and more.
Coming back to the badges themselves, the change is likely to also show up in the next WhatsApp beta version for iPhones, and could come to the stable version of the platform for all smartphones in the coming months.
