Since users send and receive messages on WhatsApp regularly, it is also important to know who the messages are being sent to. To organise the chat list on WhatsApp, users needed to add the contact using their primary device by either typing in a phone number or scanning a QR code. A new feature will now help users make this process easier.
WhatsApp has announced that a feature that will allow users to privately add and manage contacts on the app will be rolled out soon. Here’s how it will help users.
WhatsApp to allow syncing contacts
As of now, if you want to add a contact, you need to do so from your smartphone. However, the new functionality will eradicate that dependency and allow users to add contacts from any device. So, users can manage contacts from the comfort of their laptop or PC and eventually other linked devices.

While making this announcement, WhatsApp also introduced a new choice to save contacts exclusively to the app. Contacts you save to WhatsApp will be restored in case you ever lose your phone or change devices. It also helps when you are managing multiple WhatsApp business accounts.
A new setting ‘Sync contact to phone’ whenever you are adding a new contact inside WhatsApp. This feature will help with providing users with an option to save the contact to the current device or across all devices. The contacts that have not been synced will not be backed up.
These updates will make it possible to eventually manage and save contacts by usernames. Usernames on WhatsApp will reportedly add an extra degree of privacy where the user doesn’t have to share their contact details when messaging someone.
It is important to note that these features have just been announced by the company, and haven’t rolled out on the app yet.
