WhatsApp is known to bring new features to the platform every now and then to keep up with feature-packed rivals like Telegram. While this has led to the addition of many features like voice and video calls, voice chats and sticker support over the years, WhatsApp users continue to be limited to one account per phone and user. That is finally set to change soon.
WhatsApp is reportedly working on official support for multiple accounts, which will allow users to set up two separate WhatsApp accounts with two separate phone numbers on the same app. Users will then be able to switch between both accounts on command, similar to how apps like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram let you have multiple accounts.

As per a new report by WABetaInfo via Android Police, the feature is already being sent to those using the beta version of the popular communication app, specifically, the WhatsApp Beta version 2.23.17.8. Users on this version will see the option to add a second account from the main settings page.
Why multi-account support is critical to WhatsApp
Many users prefer to organise their communication, often keeping personal and business communications on separate accounts. This allows for more granular control over the two (or more) channels, which is handy when you want to keep only personal communications open and take a break from work (or vice versa).
For the longest time, WhatsApp users have resorted to methods like using both the WhatsApp and the WhatsApp Business applications simultaneously to be able to use two separate WhatsApp accounts on the same device. Users have also resorted to using separate smartphones altogether, as well as unverified third-party WhatsApp clients like the infamous GBWhatsApp, which can be privacy nightmares, or complete scams.

With native support for multiple accounts on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s large user database of over 2 billion users will finally be able to keep multiple accounts officially on the same device and on the same app. With the feature coming to beta users, the stable channel may get the feature in the upcoming months.
