WhatsApp introduces sticker-maker for iPhone users; here’s how to use it

If you’re an iPhone user, you probably had to rely on the iOS 17’s sticker-making feature to send your friends a custom-made sticker. But you no longer have to do that since WhatsApp has (finally) rolled out an in-app sticker-making feature that will let you create, edit, and share your favourite stickers. Here’s everything you need to know about the feature, along with how to use it.

Apple iPhone users using WhatsApp earlier could select a portion of an image to create a sticker on their iOS Messages app. These could later be used by the drag-and-drop feature on any other chat. However, WhatsApp’s sticker maker takes this up a notch by letting users create, edit, resize, add drawings, emojis, text and previously created stickers before sharing.

While the photo extraction may not be as accurate, you still have a lot more ease of use and creative freedom. Once you’re done creating a sticker, you will be able to save it and use it for later. Here’s how to make yours.

How to use the WhatsApp sticker-maker on iPhone

Follow these hassle-free steps to create your collection of stickers on WhatsApp for iOS:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and tap on any chat
Step 2: Locate the sticker icon on your text box and tap on it
Step 3: Once the tray opens up, you will see a + sign prompting you to create your own sticker
Step 4: On tapping this, the feature will lead you to your gallery, and you can choose any photo that you want
Step 5: Customise your sticker using text, drawings or other stickers. You can pick icons located on the top of your page
Step 6: Send your customised sticker to any message, group or channel!

Once you do this, your sticker will automatically save itself onto the tray. Alternatively, if you wish to edit or delete your sticker, long-press to find the ‘edit sticker’ option and send your edited sticker.

WhatsApp sticker-maker for iPhone: Availability

The instant messaging app has already made this feature available on its smartphone and web versions. However, if you already have iOS 17 on your iPhone and still can’t access it, don’t worry. WhatsApp is gradually rolling out the feature and will be making it accessible to everyone — including Android users.
