WhatsApp ‘Imagine Me’ feature will soon let you create AI versions of yourself

Instant messaging platform WhatsApp only recently made the news for rolling out Meta AI to all its users. The chatbot, which is integrated into the smartphone app, can generate images, text and even be a part of your group conversations when required.

However, WhatsApp seems to be testing additional functionalities for the chatbot and was recently found testing its ‘Imagine Me’ feature on the beta version for Android. Here’s everything you need to know about the feature, which will soon allow users to create AI versions of themselves.

WhatsApp Imagine Me feature: What it is and how it will work

According to a report published by WABetaInfo, the new feature will allow users to create an AI version of themselves. It goes on to state that users will be able to click a set of photos that Meta AI will then turn into AI avatars. While a user will have to click more than one photo of themselves for accurate AI representation, Meta has ensured full control by letting you delete them anytime you are through.

After clicking the set-up pictures, users can send them to the Meta AI chatbot, asking it to ‘Imagine Me’. In addition to that, users will be able to use the feature by adding their pictures and typing “Imagine Me” on any other chat. Since Meta AI cannot read any other messages in your chat, the resulting image message will automatically be shared in the conversation by the platform.

The Imagine Me feature will be optional and users will have to enable it within their settings. This means the chatbot will only respond to pictures only if it is switched on.

WhatsApp Imagine Me feature: When will it be available for all users?

Currently, the Imagine Me feature on WhatsApp is under development and is only available to select users enrolled in the beta version for Android. WhatsApp also hasn’t mentioned if or when the feature will roll out to a larger audience in the future. That said, until it does, you can always check out Meta AI and its features.
