With Meta AI now available on WhatsApp, it has significantly become simpler to carry out day-to-day tasks. The AI chatbot was introduced to the platform a few weeks ago, and since then has been able to carry out multiple functions, such as brainstorming and image generation. However, it seems as though there’s more in store for WhatsApp users.
In recent news, the instant messaging smartphone app has also announced its integration with GIPHY along with AI-driven custom sticker makers. Here’s what you need to know:
New features on WhatsApp: What's there to know?
According to Meta-owned WhatsApp, the new addition aims to encourage users to express themselves better via text conversations. Some of the features that the users will be able to benefit from include access to the GIPHY library, a custom sticker maker tool, and AI-based stickers from Meta.
Searchable GIPHY stickers: WhatsApp’s collaboration with GIPHY will now allow you to scour across a vast collection of stickers. All you have to do is tap the sticker icon and search for the sticker of your choice, without leaving the app.

Custom sticker maker: Like iOS users, Android users, too, will now be able to create a custom sticker on WhatsApp with a few simple steps. Whether you want to turn illustrations, memes or funny photos of your friends into stickers, WhatsApp has ensured a seamless process to keep all of them in one place.
AI-based stickers: You can also use Meta AI to generate custom stickers from scratch. This can be done using the bot’s Imagine Me feature and can additionally be shared across conversations and chats.
Lastly, WhatsApp has also thrown in a much-needed sticker organisation function. This will allow users to discover new sticker packs from WhatsApp by previewing them from the sticker tray located right below previously downloaded ones. If that’s not all, users will be able to move, modify or delete a sticker simply by tapping and pressing it.
When will the new stickers be available on WhatsApp?
WhatsApp has already begun rolling out the features for Android users. However, if you haven’t received it, don’t fret. The company seems to be rolling it out in a phased manner and it should reach you soon. For more updates and developments, don’t forget to subscribe to Unboxed by Croma.
