WhatsApp has always brought forward privacy-first features for both Android and iOS smartphone users. Whether it is masking IP addresses on calls or securing chats with a secret code, the instant messaging platform has incorporated timely developments every now and then.
However, a recent report by the Meta-owned platform states that it is currently testing a link privacy feature for conversations. Although not announced publicly, a small subset of beta users have noticed this feature on their smartphone app. Here’s everything you need to know about the news:
WhatsApp link privacy feature: What is it, and how does it work?
The link privacy feature essentially allows users to choose the privacy levels of the links shared within their messages. On switching this on, you will be able to turn off thumbnail previews of shared links and restrict any website data that would otherwise be shared with it. Whether you’re sharing potentially sensitive data or are hoping to keep prying eyes away from your chats, this addition aims to achieve both without any additional steps.

WhatsApp link privacy feature: How to enable it
The feature is currently undergoing tests, but iPhone users enrolled in the beta program for WhatsApp can access this feature by tapping on Privacy > Advanced and then Disable Link Previews.
