iPhones have evolved a lot since they first launched in June 2007 – whether in terms of their cameras, their simple, easy-to-use and fluid interface, or their seemless integration with the Apple ecosystem. However, perhaps one such feature which has stood out over the years, and was truly revolutionary for its time, was Siri. While Siri needs no introduction, for those unaware, here’s what it is and what it can do for you.
What is Siri?
Siri is an in-built virtual voice assistant on iPhones. The smart assistant, designed to interact with users using voice commands and and natural language processing, can do everything from make calls and send messages to one’s contacts, make grocery lists and set up alarms and reminders, tell jokes and search for one’s queries online, and a lot more.
Now however, Siri is not just restricted to iPhones, and is available across Apple’s entire ecosystem of products including iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and the Apple Watch as well.

You can activate Siri by simply saying the phrase “Hey Siri” followed by a command you wish for it to perform. Siri is designed to understand and interpret a wide range of voice commands and natural language queries. It is a quick and convenient way of performing certain tasks and information on the go.
Fun fact though. Not a lot of people may know this, but Siri was first developed by a company called Siri Inc., which was later acquired by Apple. Post the takeover, Apple began integrating the virtual voice assistant into its products.
