Western Digital just announced its 2.5-inch portable hard disk drives (HDD) with up to 6TB storage. WD has expanded its WD, WD_BLACK and SanDisk Professional product lineups with the WD My Passport portable HDD line, and SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE ArmorATD respectively. Here’s everything you need to know.
WD and SanDisk Professional 6TB HDD: Key features to look out for
Western Digital mentioned its My Passport hard disk will feature a slim and compact build. The My Passport Ultra, on the other hand, has a metal design and both the hard disks come with USB Type-C technology. The new WD HDDs also come with password protection with 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) hardware encryption.

SanDisk Professional’s G-DRIVE ArmorATD drive sports a more rugged look. In fact, the company has also added all-terrain resistance as well as shock protection of up to 1m for the device. Apart from ensuring security, the hard disk is rated with an IP54 for dust and water certification, and it even comes with a ‘crush resistance’ of up to 1,000 lbs.
WD and SanDisk Professional 6TB HDD: Price and availability
WD’s My Passport lineup comes in a variety of different colours and is priced beginning from Rs 15,999. The WD My Passport Ultra Works with USB-C costs Rs 15,999 whereas the WD Elements is priced at Rs 15,299.
SanDisk Professional’s G-Drive ArmorATD can be bought at Rs 20,999. Both HDD lineups are available on the Western Digital Store, as well as key e-commerce platforms, and at select retail outlets starting now.
Other available options within this price range include the Seagate One Touch 5TB USB 3.0 HDD.
