Vivo’s camera-focused V-series has added two new phones to the series with the new V40 and V40 Pro, both of which were launched in India this week. The new phones come with, improved cameras, but also new battery tech that gives the smartphones more juice without affecting their design.

Vivo V40, V40 Pro: What’s new?
The Vivo V40 series includes some improved specifications. These include a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel on both phones with 120Hz refresh rate. The screens can also hit a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, making them some of the brightest screens out there right now.

While the Vivo V40 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the Vivo V40 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ flagship chipset. Both phones come with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Coming to the cameras, the Vivo V40 comes with a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilisation, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The Vivo V40 Pro comes with a triple camera setup on the back, adding a third 50MP 2x Telephoto sensor to the mix.
With Zeiss collaborating on both phones, the Vivo V40 series come with seven unique portrait mode styles, including Zeiss B-Speed Style Bokeh portraits, Zeiss Cinematic Style Bokeh and more. Both devices come with 50MP front cameras for video calls and selfies.

Other features include IP68 certification on both phones, and new 5,500mAh batteries with 80W wired charging support. Vivo also managed to fit in the new large batteries without affecting the thickness, allowing the phones to be just 7.5mm thin.
Vivo V40 series: Pricing and availability
The Vivo V40 is priced from Rs 34,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant, while the Vivo V40 Pro is priced from Rs 49,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant. While the V40 is available in Ganges Blue, Lotus Purple, and Titanium Grey colours, the Vivo V40 Pro is available only in Ganges Blue and Titanium Grey colours.
Some other options you can consider include the OnePlus Nord 4 which comes with a metal body, or the Realme GT 6, which is a more performance-oriented alternative.
