While traveling, one of the biggest fears of people is their luggage getting misplaced during transit. Over time, people found rather innovative ways to track their luggage, one of the most prominent ones was plonking an Apple AirTag in their checked in bags.
Air India seems to have taken note, and have added support for tracking baggage using Apple AirTag in case your luggage gets lost in transit. With the efficiency that Air India operates with, the chances of your luggage getting lost are low, but if in case it does, here’s how you can track your luggage using AirTag.
How to track your luggage using Air India’s Air Tag integration?
The process is fairly simple and easy to execute.
First, you need to lose your bag… Just kidding. In case your baggage is lost in transit, here’s how you can track it down using AirTag and help Air India retrieve it –

Step 1: Before you travel, make sure you have an active Apple AirTag in your luggage that you are checking in your Air India flight.
Step 2: Make sure your Apple device is running iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, or macOS 15.2 or later so that you are able to share your location with Air India.
Step 3: Go to Air India’s Baggage Counter at the airport and file for a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) for the baggage, in case it is lost.
Step 4: Generate the ‘Share Item Location’ in the Find My app on your Apple device.
Step 5: Share the location link with Air India. You will need to associate it with your PIR.
On the mobile app, you can visit the ‘Customer Support Portal’ on the app and choose ‘Baggage’ and then select ‘Lost and Found Check-in Baggage’ and provide the AirTag link there.

In case you are on the website, you can visit ‘Lost and Found Check-in Baggage’ in the Customer Support Portal page to provide the ‘Share Item Location’ link for their Apple AirTag, along with PIR number.
Step 6: You will now receive an acknowledgement email from Air India with a link to check baggage status. Keep an eye out for the location of your baggage.
The shared AirTag link will be turned off by Air India once your bag has been located. The link will automatically stop working after seven days. You can also turn it off manually.
