The best part of any occasion is dressing up for it. And if your elaborate collection of sparkly clothes is fantastic to look at, there’s always an added anxiety of maintaining it right. Of course, sending them off to the dry cleaners is definitely on the list, but more often than not, the visit may or may not be on our cards owing to our busy schedules.
That said, washing your sparkly clothes at home is indeed a gamble, as it is difficult to tell what could damage your washing machine or your favourite garments. However, if push comes to shove, here are three washing machines with delicate wash modes to fall back upon and, of course, some tips to help you keep them as good as new.
Sequins, sparkles and all things nice – how do you wash them?
Whether it is a celebration or a festival night, certain outfits ooze glamour, and we love them for that. However, they are also not ideal to be thrown in with the rest of your clothes for obvious reasons. If you’re wondering how to look after your apparel, we have a few tips that you can keep in mind.
Read labels: If there’s one thing we don’t do is, read terms and conditions – or labels. But it is often where all the crucial information hides. Get acquainted with your item of clothing by checking if it is safe to be machine washed or if it requires special handling. You’re most likely to get everything you need to know by skimming through a label.
Avoid fabric softener: The temptation of adding a fabric softener may get the best of you; however, it can cause sequins or glitter to fade. It is best not to use one or to use a mild solution to wash your party clothes.

Turn your clothes inside out: The embellished part of your clothes is always at the front and turning them inside out can prevent it from coming off during the wash cycle. It is also advisable to zip your party dress up before putting it into the machine.
Avoid hotter wash cycles: Hot wash cycles are great to rule out any possibilities of germs and allergens, but they’re not the best idea when it comes to washing your cocktail dresses. Hot water can diminish the quality of the favourite fabric. Make an exception with your party wear by washing it on cool and gentle modes to keep it looking brand new for a longer time.
3 washing machines with delicate wash technology
Certain washing machine modes are tailored to help preserve the shine of your party outfits. While we don’t recommend machine washing clothes with mirrors or beads, if you’re dealing with velvet, lace, sheer or silk, there are several technologies today that are built around preserving their newness.
Samsung’s 9kg 5-star fully automatic washing machine comes with Ecobubble technology to wash your delicate clothes effectively. It also comes with a front-load function and a matte black finish to blend into your contemporary decor.
Similarly, LG’s 11kg 5-star fully automatic washing machine offers TurboWash 360-degrees to ensure your favourite attire is washed thoroughly with optimum protection. With its four directions of 3D multi nozzles, you can even expect lesser wrinkles apart from fabric protection.
Lastly, the IFB Executive ZXM 8.5kg/6.5kg 5-star fully automatic machine comes with a washer-dryer combo that carefully tends to your party wear at home. Its cradle wash system and crescent moon drum are built to protect garments while delivering an efficient performance. If you think that’s all, the washing machine also stands out as a centrepiece with its glossy grey finish. What more could we ask for?
We hope with this guide, you now have the hack to get outfits looking stellar and packed for the next festive get-together with ease.
