We are at the halfway mark of 2024, and a number of interesting smartphones have already launched in the year. However, many more phones are yet to come including the next iPhone, a couple of foldable phones and the return of a flagship series after half a decade.
Here’s a quick look at all the new phones that are on the way, and what to expect from them. Let’s begin with number one.
Apple iPhone 16 series
The new Apple iPhone is one of the most awaited phones every year across the globe, and since Apple made some big changes with the iPhone 15 series last year, with a switch to USB-C and a new Action Button, all eyes are now on the iPhone 16 series. This will also be the first iPhones to launch after Apple’s big AI push with iOS 18, which is expected to be announced next week at WWDC 2024.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6
Samsung’s next foldables will also be very important in the segment this year, especially after competition against the Galaxy Z Fold5 really picked up with entries like the OnePlus Open.
With more players set to enter the Indian foldable market this year, it remains to be seen what Samsung, the pioneer in the space, does to help its phones stand apart. The new Galaxy Z phones are expected to launch next month in July.
Vivo X Fold3 Pro
Vivo’s X-series of camera centric phones have been some of the best camera phones in the last few years. However, this year the company is all set on entering the foldable segment.

The new Vivo X Fold3 Pro is set to launch later this month in June, and will take on competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series and the OnePlus Open. Can the brand bring its camera expertise to foldables? We shall find out soon.
Google Pixel 9 series
Google’s flagship Pixel series has been absent in the Indian smartphone market since 2018, with the brand only selling its more affordable A-series phones in India since.
However, multiple rumours online suggest that Google is gearing up to launch its next-gen Pixel series. Expect better cameras and a bunch of new AI features, some of which we saw during Google I/O 2024.
Nothing Phone (3)
Nothing has been all over the news for back-to-back launches including the affordable Nothing Ear (a), the new Nothing Phone (2a), and the brand’s first ‘Special Edition’ device, which comes with way too many colours for our liking.
However, the brand has not launched a true flagship since the Nothing Phone (2) in July 2023. With the one-year mark closing in, we could very well expect the Nothing Phone (3) to drop soon this month.
Oppo Reno 12
The mid-range, camera focused Oppo Reno series is one of the most interesting devices in its segment every year, bringing some great hardware and software features targeted at photography and portrait lovers who don’t want to spend too much.
The upcoming Oppo Reno 12 is expected to be the next in the series in India. With a China launch already taking place last month, we may not have to wait for too long to see the phone in India.
OnePlus Nord 4
OnePlus’s Nord series of phones offer some great value-for-money devices, and the OnePlus Nord 4 is expected to be the next in the series after the brand already launched the OnePlus Nord CE4 earlier this year.

The OnePlus Nord 4, is expected to be a slightly more powerful, upper-midrange device that could pack a powerful chip and neat camera features in a value-for-money package, which could launch next month.
Xiaomi 14 Civi
Xiaomi’s Civi series of midrange phones have been very popular in China for the last couple of years, and it was honestly only a matter of time until the series came to India. After Xiaomi’s confirmation on the same, the first Civi series device is now launching in India as the Xiaomi 14 Civi, set to go live later this month.
Realme GT 6
The Realme GT series is known for one thing above all else – offering performance on a budget. The new Realme GT 6 series is expected to be no different, and is expected to be powered by specifications like the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and up to 12GB RAM, possibly without costing too much. The Realme GT 6 is set to launch on June 20.
Those are some of the most awaited smartphone launches across segments, that you need to keep an eye out for before the year comes to an end. What phone are you most excited for and why? Let us know in the comments below.
