Top 10 best refrigerator brands in India (2024)

When it comes to choosing a refrigerator for your home, you’d do well to remember that the best refrigerator brand is the one that works for you. A refrigerator brand with the best technology and the highest energy-saving ratings would be useless if it doesn’t fit in its designated place in your home.

Refrigerators in India have come a long way since the ‘70s and the ‘80s when they held a place of pride in people’s living rooms. Refrigerators were so rare that if you had one, you’d have to resist the temptation to show it off to anyone visiting.

Over time, refrigerators became more common and moved into the kitchen. And then began the race for size, number of doors, and energy efficiency. You were no longer satisfied with a 125L fridge that likely saw you through the turn of the century, you wanted a 500L monster. Or a 735L.

Even though India’s economy opened up in ’91, the full effects of the Liberalisation weren’t felt until the early noughts. Suddenly, a nation that was used to the idea of seeing just one refrigerator brand – Godrej – now had a wide range of refrigerator brands in India to choose from.

Today, nearly a quarter century into the new millennium, refrigerator brands from Korea, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and China compete with homegrown refrigerator brands.

Croma isn’t far behind either. Launched in 2008, Croma’s refrigerators have also evolved over time, offering great quality at affordable prices.

So, whether you’re looking for a single-door or double-door refrigerator, a French door refrigerator or a side-by-side refrigerator, you will be spoilt for choice.

The Bespoke series of refrigerators comes with customisable panels in different colours that can go with your home and kitchen décor. This series also leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) to recognise up to 33 common grocery items and proceeds to suggest recipes for what’s in the fridge.

But the feature that endears Samsung to Indians’ hearts is its Curd Maestro feature.
