The Insta360 Flow Pro AI is the magic wand solo creators have waited for

Insta360 is a name you’ve probably heard of for the brand’s cameras like the Insta360 X3 and the Insta360 One. However, the brand’s latest launch is not a camera, but an accessory for smartphones that is equally impressive.

Meet the Insta360 Flow Pro, an AI-powered selfie stick, that can help you take better selfies, but also do a lot more. Here’s everything you want to know about the accessory and what smartphones it supports.

Insta360 Flow Pro: What’s new?

The Insta360 Flow Pro is an AI-tracking gimbal. That’s at least what the brand calls it. The device itself, is a gimbal stabiliser, a selfie stick, and a mini tripod – all in one product.

The highlight of the product is native support for Apple’s DockKit API, which allows all of the gimbal’s magic to work not just with the default Apple Camera app, but also supported third-party apps which support the API.

Currently this includes popular applications like Instagram, YouTube, Zoom and even WhatsApp. If you haven’t figured it out already, yes, the Insta360 Flow Pro is for iPhones, and will work by wirelessly connecting to iPhones using NFC. While you can use the device with Android phones too, you won’t be able to use it to its full potential with third-party apps.

Features include a tripod function that can extend till up to 215mm, a foldable design that the brand says will help the Flow Pro fit into most pockets, and a MagSafe mount, letting you simply snap an iPhone 12 or later in place without having to worry about flimsy fastening. There’s also a 2,900mAh battery built in.

When set up and laid out on a surface, the Insta360 Flow Pro can pan infinitely horizontally, allowing super wide video shots that can literally go a full 360-degrees (or even more). Think of the Arc de Triomphe shootdown from John Wick: Chapter 4, or Han’s circular burnout in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift – the Insta360 Flow Pro lets you do that (on your feet, not wheels).

The Insta360 Flow Pro is priced at $149 (about Rs 12,500), and while it is not currently available in India, we might just see the brand launch the accessory here later this year.
