Tecno Pova 6 Pro’s 6,000mAh battery means you won’t need a power bank

Somewhere in the evolution of smartphones, especially in the past couple of years, battery capacities started stagnating. With faster charging speeds growing in importance, it seemed like every phone’s battery was going to be between a 4,000-5,000mAh unit. However, that ended up only being a matter of time, as Tecno has just launched the first phone with a 6,000mAh battery in India.

This is the Tecno Pova 6 Pro, a phone that was first showcased in February at MWC 2024 with some key specifications, and a futuristic design that feels straight out of the Cyberpunk 2077 game, which by the way, is available for free this weekend. Here’s all you need to know about the phone, but first, let’s check out the battery itself.

What can a 6,000mAh battery do for you?

The 6,000mAh battery on the Tecno Pova 6 is larger than most smartphones we have right now, but is it the best battery life on a phone right now? It’s hard to tell. A flagship like the 5,400mAh OnePlus 12 is claimed to offer 19 hours of YouTube playback or 10 hours of GPS navigation. Tecno, on the other hand, does hint at 11 hours of gaming on the Pova 6 Pro, but that is something highly subjective.

A number of factors like apps and software optimisations all play a part in determining your average battery life. That said Tecno Pova 6 Pro has a battery capacity so large, that it should easily be a two-day phone for most average users, although the brand has made no such claims.

With the addition of reverse charging support, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro can also charge other devices on the go if you have the right cables. This may include a pair of TWS earbuds, a smartwatch, or even a second phone.

Tecno Pova 6 Pro: Highlights

The Tecno Pova 6 Pro comes with two major standout features – design and battery. The design is far from subtle and includes the brand’s Arc Interface which houses over 200 LEDs on the back of the phone. Similar to Nothing’s Glyph Interface on devices like the Nothing Phone (2), the Pova 6 Pro can use the lights in multiple combinations for alerts and more. The back panel is also transparent to an extent here, and the phone is 7.9mm thick.

Its second USP is the big 6,000mAh Li-Polymer battery that also happens to support 70W fast charging. This should translate to both good battery life and fast charging times, and Tecno claims the phone can hit 50 per cent battery in 19 minutes, while a full charge will take 50 minutes.

Tecno Pova 6 Pro: Other specifications

The Tecno Pova 6 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that offers FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, The panel can also reach a peak brightness of 1300 nits. Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 6080, a 5G chipset that should be plenty for moderate usage and some casual to mid-level gaming.

The phone comes with either 8GB or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, while other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a dedicated heat dissipation system.
