Tecno Phantom X2 Pro smartphone with retractable portrait lens launched

Chinese mobile manufacturer Tecno has officially announced a new flagship Phantom X2 series at its ‘Beyond the Extraordinary’ event. The successor to the Phantom X series, the Tecno Phantom X2 series consists of the Phantom X2 and Phantom X2 Pro devices.

Both devices have similar specs and are powered by MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9000 chipset. This is accompanied by 8GB of RAM on the Phantom X2, and 12GB of RAM with 5GB extended RAM on the Phantom X2 Pro. Furthermore, the X2 and X2 Pro both have a storage capacity of 256GB.

The Tecno Phantom X2 and the X2 Pro also have a similar design, with a curved 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Backing up the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro and the X2 Pro are 5,160mAh battery and support 45W fast charging. Furthermore, both devices are offered with an upgraded version of Tecno’s “Ella” AI voice assistant feature, as well as the feature smart 5G 2.0 technology, which significantly reduces power consumption on a 5G network.

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro features a triple-camera setup at the rear with a first-of-its-kind 50MP Samsung JN1 retractable portrait camera lens with support for 2.5x telephoto zoom, a 50MP Samsung GNC primary camera, as well as a 13MP Samsung 3L6 ultra-wide lens.

The Tecno Phantom X2, on the other hand, is offered with a 64MP Samsung GWB primary camera with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

While the plain Vanilla Phantom X2 comes in two colour options – Stardust Grey and Moonlight Silver, the Phantom X2 Pro will be offered in Stardust Grey and an eco-friendly Mars Orange edition.

The Tecno Phantom X2 and Phantom X2 Pro devices are currently priced at approximately Rs 59,060 and Rs 76,650 in Saudi Arabia, and can be purchased globally by December end. Pricing for other markets will likely be revealed closer to the launch dates.
