Spotify remains a go-to for many music lovers across the globe owing to its vast library, intuitive features, and ease-of-accessibility. And while everyone (us including) waits for this year’s Spotify Wrapped to drop, there’s no denying that there are multiple features by the music streaming platform that have evolved our listening habits.
Along with podcasts, video podcasts and personalised playlists, the app constantly introduces updates to make the user experience memorable and convenient from time to time. Adding to this, the Recommended For You feature is one such element that uses the algorithm to come up with song suggestions for you.

However, as useful as it is, several users have complained of it being intrusive, and Spotify currently doesn’t have an option to turn it off. That said, the feature is set to be rolled out to the smartphone and laptop app. Here’s all you need to know about it:
What do personalised recommendations on Spotify have to offer?
Spotify has incorporated machine learning and AI-based algorithms to derive music recommendations based on multiple factors. These could include your favourite genre, the time of the day that you generally listen to music and your listening history. Using these factors, Spotify comes up with songs you may be interested in or have missed out on listening.
Artificial intelligence usually matches all these factors along with the tempo, beats and genre of the song before recommending it to you. Apart from this, recommended songs also show up within collaborative playlists that you may end up making with your friends.
However, those who generally don’t prefer this addition or want their playlists to remain unchanged will soon have the option of turning off this feature for their accounts. That said, it is difficult to tell when or if this will be a Premium-only feature, considering how Spotify has been limiting access to free features on the app.
