Sony has just launched the new ELF-SR2 Spatial Reality Display in India. The 27-inch monitor is unlike any other though, because it lets you view 3D content without needing 3D glasses or a VR headset. This display from Sony provides lifelike recreations of spatial images in 3D, such that users can better understand objects’ dimensions, textures and appearance.
Sony ELF-SR2 Spatial Reality Display: Features and specifications
The Sony ELF-SR2 Spatial Reality Display features a 27-inch display with a 4K resolution, and 100% Adobe RGB colour gamut. The super-resolution engine can also upscale content in 2K to 4K quality.
What’s cool though, is that the display features facial and edaye-tracking capabilities, which tracks a viewer’s eyes and adjusts the viewing angle accordingly. In addition to this, the ELF-SR2 display also lets two people view the screen and alternate viewing angles without having to change their position. Latency is kept in check using high-speed sensors, which helps minimise motion blur.
Sony ELF-SR2 Spatial Reality Display: What it's meant for
The Sony ELF-SR2 display is primarily targeted at those in the fields of industrial and automotive design, surgery, architecture, as well as software and game development. It currently supports multiple Software Development Kits (SDKs) including Unity, OpenGL, DirectX 11, DirectX 12, and Unreal Engine. Sony also says that support for OpenXR will be coming to the display later in the year.
To further help things along, Sony is also working on a “Spatial Reality Display App Select” website, which will have applications with everyday use cases available to download and use. The display will also include a “Spatial Reality Display Player” app which will allow users to view and play various file formats on the device.
Sony ELF-SR2 Spatial Reality Display: Pricing and availability
The Sony ELF-SR2 display is priced at Rs 7,00,000, and can be purchased from Sony’s authorised distributors across the country.
