Sony PlayStation VR2 launched in India for gamers with a knack for virtual reality

The Sony PlayStation VR2, Sony’s latest in its line of virtual reality-based gaming console additions has finally launched officially in India. An addition to the Sony PlayStation 5 gaming console, the PS VR2 enables gamers to take their gaming session from a monitor or TV to the headset.

For supported games, the PS VR2 allows complete control from the headset via the two controllers, allowing a degree of immersion in your favourite games that was previously not possible. Here’s everything you need to know about the new VR console.

Sony PlayStation VR2: Price, specifications and features

The Sony PS VR2 comes with a 4,000 x 2,040 resolution OLED resolution (2,000 x 2,040 per eye) and can run at 90Hz or 120Hz depending on the content being displayed. The visor features a 110-degree FOV and comes with a see-through toggle, that allows users to check their surroundings without removing the headset. This is great for quickly grabbing some water or picking up your controllers after wearing the visor.

A built-in sensory feature in the PS VR2 also uses motor vibrations to add more immersive ability to the games. Other new features include lens adjustment, and advanced haptics on the controllers.

Features like foveated rendering allow the console to focus its resources precisely on areas where the player is looking at, using eye-tracking. This lets the console render more details in the line-of-sight than surrounding areas.

Note that the PS VR2 is an add-on, and users will require a PlayStation 5 (connected via the USB Type-C port) to run the console. The PS VR2 also supports a number of games including Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil Village, No Man’s Sky, Humanity, and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition.

The Sony PS VR2 is priced at Rs 57,990, which is more than the PlayStation 5 console that you require to run this add-on with. Interested gamers can also buy the Horizon: Call of the Mountain bundle, which comes with a copy of the VR game as well. The Horizon: Call of the Mountain bundle is priced at Rs 61,999.
