Premium audio brand Sonos made its entry into the personal audio space a few months ago, when it launched its first-ever headphones, the Sonos Ace. While the headphones went on sale in select markets on June 5, it is only now that the brand has (finally) launched them in India. In case you missed it, here’s all you need to know about the Sonos Ace headphones.
Sonos Ace headphones: Features and key specifications
The Sonos Ace headphones sport 40mm dynamic drivers in each ear cup, coupled with as many as eight microphones for drowning out background noise on phone calls, or even while listening to music. On offer is support for lossless audio over Bluetooth, as well as spatial audio.
The Sonos Ace headphones also get dynamic head-tracking capabilities, which gives the impression that sound is coming from a source in whichever direction you turn.

Another cool feature on the headphones is audio swap. In essence, it allows you to connect your headphones to other Sonos speakers including the Sonos Arc, when the latter is paired to your TV. This enables audio to be directly beamed to your headphones, such that you can watch TV without bothering anyone around you. You can also switch the audio back to the speakers as and when you like, via the Sonos app.

The Sonos Ace headphones come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capabilities, which is expected at their price point. Interestingly, they also get an ‘Aware’ mode, which blends ambient sounds around you with your music and calls such that you also know what’s going on around you at all times. Both of these features can be turned on or off via a dedicated button on the headphones.
There’s also what Sonos calls a ‘Content key’ on the headphones, which can be used to adjust the volume via a slide control feature, or be pressed to receive and end calls, control audio playback, and more.
Coming to the design on the Sonos Ace headphones, they get high-quality memory foam cups wrapped in vegan leather. The metal headband is wrapped in leather as well, and can be adjusted to ensure the perfect fit and comfort for you.
The Bluetooth 5.4-enabled Sonos Ace headphones get a 1,060mAh battery which the company claims, provides for up to 30 hours of listening time and up to 24 hours of calling with ANC or Aware mode turned on. A handy feature on the headphones is support for rapid charging, which can provide for up to three hours of listening time within three minutes. The total time taken to charge the headphones via a USB Type-C charger, on the other hand, stands at around three hours.

Oh and, before we forget. Should you like to simply listen to your tunes the old school way, or hate the poor quality in-ear headphones provided to you on flights, you can also hook them up to your devices or an in-flight entertainment system via the USB Type-C to 3.5mm cable provided in the box with the headphones.
Sonos Ace headphones: Pricing and availability
The Sonos Ace headphones are available in Black and Soft White colourways, and are priced at Rs 39,999 in India. A few other options you can consider in this price range are the Sony WH-1000 XM5 and the Bose 700 Bluetooth headphones.
