Sonos Ace marks the brand’s entry in the premium headphones segment

Sonos has been synonymous with premium audio products for years, but those audio products have always been large additions to your living room interior, rather than something you can carry around with you on a day trip. That changes with the Sonos Ace, the brand’s first pair of headphones.

Sonos Ace: What’s new?

The Sonos Ace is a feature-packed pair of headphones with support for high-fidelity sound, along with cool additions like head tracking support and the ability to seamlessly connect to other Sonos products.

The Sonos Ace is made of metal, leather and quality plastic, and the brand claims it offers a comfortable yet premium feel. A ‘Bespoke fit’ metal headband on the top helps the headphones stay in place with ease. Meanwhile, the magnetically attached vegan leather ear cups can be easily removed, cleaned and if required, replaced.

Sonos has also thrown in a content key, which users can use to control music playback, adjust volume, and even take calls. There’s also another dedicated button for users to control the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

There are also beam-forming microphones, which help enhance your voice, making things like video conferences much better. Other additions on the body include a 3.5mm port and a USB-C port. The latter also offers support for fast charging, allowing the headphones to pack enough juice for three hours of playback in as little as three minutes. A full charge gets you about 30 hours of playback.

Connectivity

The Sonos Ace come with support for both Android and iOS devices, and supports seamless switching between paired input devices. But that’s not it. If you have a Sonos Arc speaker at home, the sound output can now be directly beamed into your headphones when you want to watch TV without bothering the people around you.

The beamed audio from your soundbar can come from a TV, a projector, or even a gaming console like the new Sony PlayStation 5 Slim, and the feature will still work, it will also use the head-tracking on the headphones to enable Spatial Audio support.

The Sonos Ace is priced at $450 (about Rs 37,470).
