At its annual Snap Partner Summit, Snapchat announced a host of changes coming to the social media platform, including a full-fledged AI suite. Apart from getting its ‘biggest redesign yet‘, the smartphone app will also introduce editable chats, AI-powered Bitmoji looks, maps as well as emoji reactions, among others. Check out everything new coming to Snapchat:
Snapchat AI-powered features: What's new?
According to Snap, the evolved version of Snapchat is built to simplify the app experience for its users and align it with the most common smartphone features: taking pictures, communication and entertainment. However, the US-based company further mentioned how it will introduce artificial intelligence-driven features, such as an AI-powered lens, that will allow users to look at their ‘future selves’.
Apart from this, Snapchat+ users will also have the option to add AI-generated captions to their Snap memories as well as Lenses. Early this year in May, the company launched a generative AI chatbot known as My AI, which has now been upgraded to analyse Snaps, interpret parking signs, and foreign languages as well as translate menus. Like Google Lens, the platform will also be able to identify flora and fauna as well.

Snapchat is best known for its filters, and the company has thrown in a couple of more, including a lip-syncing lens to use with the app’s sound library. It has also updated the NYX Beauty Bestie Lens with generative AI features which recommends tailored looks for its users.
Lastly, Snap also announced its Snap Star Collab Studio which simplifies demographic data with brands and advertisers, as well as engagement rates, for content creators who wish to cinch partnerships.
When will the AI tools be available to use on Snapchat?
The company hasn’t mentioned when the tools plan to go live on the platform; however, the company at the event stated that the changes will roll out soon. Apart from this, Snapchat, in an official report, also teased other Gen-AI tools and features that are in the pipeline, including Video to 3D Gaussian Splats for 3D creators.
This would eventually allow users to create a 3D animation based on a short video clip. While the timeline isn’t exactly known, you can always visit Unboxed by Croma for timely updates and more AI-related news.
