Shazam Concerts is here to help you never miss a live music show again

If you’re someone who loves the idea of music concerts but always seems to be the last person to find out about one of your favourite artists coming to town, you’re not alone. Scrambling for tickets with a tear in your eye because the best ones are already gone is a terrible feeling. Fortunately, popular music recognition service Shazam’s newest feature is here to help.

A new ‘Concerts’ section has now been introduced in the Shazam iOS app for Apple iPhones. The section allows users to keep an eye out for both popular concerts, and ones that are more tailored to your musical taste. Shazam users can also control if they want to see far-away concerts, but if distance is a hindrance, they can stick to nearby ones as well.

The new feature also allows Shazam users to save a particular concert by tapping on one. Users can then also add the concert to their calendar, which allows it to show up on any widgets or other platforms that your calendar is linked to.

When tapping on a specific concert, Shazam will also show you popular music from the band or artist, which you can then either listen to in-app or open in Apple Music or Spotify.

How does the new feature work?

Shazam’s new Concerts section sources its data from Bandsintown, a platform that tracks live music events for major artists and bands. The platform licensed its data to Apple last year, and since Apple also owns Shazam, it was only a matter of time before such a feature was set to hit iPhones.

The new feature should roll to all Shazam users on iPhone soon. Just keep your apps updated to make sure you get the new feature. That said, whether Shazam’s Concerts section will come to the Android version of the app still remains to be seen.
