At MWC 2025, Samsung’s Project Moohan made a splash, offering a tantalising glimpse into the company’s ambitious XR (Extended Reality) strategy. The XR headset turned heads and sparked plenty of buzz, with many touting that it could be a serious contender to the Apple Vision Pro and the Meta Quest 2.
But while bulky headsets aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, Samsung has something sleeker up its sleeve – enter the Samsung Haean smart glasses.
Samsung is reportedly working on a pair of Android-powered smart glasses, codenamed Haean, named after a city in South Korea. These smart glasses are expected to launch later this year alongside the Project Moohan headset.
Given the growing popularity of XR glasses like the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, Samsung’s Haean glasses could attract significant attention at launch – possibly making waves at the upcoming Unpacked event in July.
Samsung XR smart glasses: Everything we know so far
According to a report by ETNews, Samsung is still finalising the features and specifications of the Haean glasses. Designed for all-day wear, these glasses will reportedly be ergonomically crafted to suit a wide range of face shapes, to ensure comfort and a secure fit.
Under the hood, Samsung is expected to include built-in cameras and sensors to support movement tracking, enabling a variety of immersive AR experiences. One of the standout features could be AI integration – with the glasses potentially shipping with Google’s Gemini AI built-in. Additionally, Samsung is said to be preparing an initial production run of 500,000 units.
The Haean smart glasses are likely to run on Android XR OS — a new operating system developed specifically for XR devices through a collaboration between Google and Qualcomm. They could be powered by either the Snapdragon AR1 or the XR2 Plus Gen 2 chipsets, making them capable of handling intensive XR tasks.
Rumours suggest the glasses may include a 12MP Sony camera, enabling features like gesture recognition, facial identification, and others.
Much like the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, Samsung’s Haean glasses are expected to support features like video recording, music playback, voice calls, and more. Beyond Gemini, Samsung is also likely to integrate its own Galaxy AI suite, unlocking even more smart capabilities for users on the go.
