Samsung expands Odyssey lineup of gaming monitors with the Odyssey OLED G9, G8 and G6

Gaming these days is about so much more than just a powerful CPU. A good gaming setup today requires several peripherals including a gaming keyboard and mouse, headphones, and of course, let’s not forget a good monitor.

To cater to this, Samsung has just unveiled three new additions to its Odyssey lineup of gaming monitors – the Odyssey OLED G9, Odyssey OLED G8, and the Odyssey OLED G6. Here’s all you need to know.

Samsung Odyssey monitors key specifications

Samsung’s three new additions to the Odyssey lineup of gaming monitors include the 49-inch G9 (G95SD), the 32-inch G8 (G80SD), and the 27-inch G6 (G60SD). All three models feature OLED Glare-Free technology, which helps minimise reflections, such that you can play games with consistent brightness and colours in nearly any environment.

Samsung Odyssey G9

The largest amongst the new additions to the Odyssey lineup, the Odyssey OLED G9 is a 49-inch curved monitor with a resolution of a whopping 5,120×1,440 pixels, a 32:9 aspect ratio, and a 240Hz refresh rate. The monitor’s wrap-around design also provides for an immersive experience, with the OLED screen further adding to it with a 1,0000,000:1 contrast ratio.

Samsung Odyssey G8

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 is the company’s first flat 32-inch OLED gaming monitor and features a 3,840×2,160 pixel resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a peak brightness of 450 nits, and a 240Hz refresh rate. The monitor measures only 3.9 millimeters in thickness, ensuring it doesn’t take up any more space on your desk than required.

Samsung Odyssey G6

Though it is the smallest of the lot, the Samsung Odyssey G6 is no slouch. This gaming monitor features a 27-inch flat-screen display, with a resolution of 2,560×1,440 pixels and a 360Hz refresh rate, making it perfect for online gaming. It also features a 16:9 aspect ratio.

All three monitors feature VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400 technology, support for AMD Freesync Premium Pro, as well as Samsung Smart TV connectivity, Samsung Gaming Hub, and Samsung Core Lighting+. In addition to this, they also feature two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DP 1.4 port, and one USB Hub.

In addition to this, the Samsung Odyssey G9, G8, and G6 monitors come with a height-adjustable stand that features tilt, swivel, and pivot control points, and also feature VESA mount² compatibility.

The pricing and launch dates for Samsung’s latest Odyssey monitors remain unknown as of now and is expected to be announced at CES 2024.
