Samsung’s Galaxy S-series smartphones have been some of the best phones every year, and the series itself has been pretty stable for the past few years. There’s a base variant for those looking for a compact flagship, a larger Plus variant for those looking for a bigger display and battery on their flagship, and an Ultra variant for those looking for the best performance, cameras and stylus support.
This year however, rumours have suggested Samsung may add a fourth variant to the series – a ‘Slim’ variant. This phone will pack the power and hardware of the rest of the series and squeeze it all into an ultra-slim form factor.
While Samsung has not explicitly confirmed this addition, or anything else about the Galaxy S25 series in general yet, we do have a rough idea about what to expect from the phone.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim: What to expect?
As per a report by GSMArena, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim could sport a 6.66-inch screen, a triple camera setup including a 200MP main, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto camera and a battery with a capacity between 4,700mAh and 5,000mAh.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is also expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, just like the rest of the S25 series.

Going with the latest Snapdragon chipset actually makes sense for the phone. With any device that is aimed at being slim or compact in any way, the biggest challenge is the battery. One of the largest components in any phone or laptop, the battery is crucial to determining how small or thin a device can get.
However, making the battery too small in the pursuit of design can also negatively impact the user experience. Nobody likes a phone that they have to charge twice in one day. This is where the 3nm architecture of the Snapdragon 8 Elite can come in handy, as it is designed around being as efficient as possible.
That said, if Samsung does manage to still fit in say, a 5,000mAh battery in a Slim phone, that would be some magical engineering. Then again, the reports also suggest that while the S25 Slim may launch with the rest of the series, it may not be available until later this year, so the company does have some time to figure things out.
Either way, Samsung will want the S25 Slim to make it to the market well before September this year, because Apple too has similar plans this time. Multiple reports have suggested that Apple may also launch a new variant this year called the iPhone 17 Air (just like the MacBook Air and iPad Air) which will replace the Plus variant and be a slimmer version of the vanilla iPhone 17.
More details on both these devices should be available later this year, with an official Samsung event invite expected within the next couple of weeks considering the launch of the S25 series is expected to take place before the end of January.
