Samsung introduced the Galaxy Ring sometime in July last year alongside its flagship foldables. However, ahead of its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, the brand has announced upgraded features along with two new sizes for its wearable device. The move comes as a part of the company’s plan to expand its sleep tech lineup. Here’s everything new coming to the Samsung Galaxy Ring:
Samsung Galaxy Ring gets an upgrade: What's there to know?
To begin with, the Samsung Galaxy Ring will now come in two larger sizes: 14 and 15. Apart from this, Samsung is also making its smart ring available in an additional 15 global markets, bringing the overall count up to 53.
Secondarily, the latest Samsung Health app update also seems to be taking sleep tracking up a notch. Instead of just telling you how well (or poorly) you slept last night, it now comes with three new features: a Sleep environment report that checks your sleep surroundings, Sleep time guidance to help you figure out when to hit the sack, and a Mindfulness tracker to keep your stress in check.

Moreover, the upgraded Samsung Health app now integrates with SmartThings to create a comprehensive sleep monitoring system. According to the brand, it can analyse your bedroom’s temperature, humidity, air quality, and lighting, and it even generates a detailed Sleep environment report each morning with recommendations for optimal rest.
Further, Samsung mentions how the system can automatically adjust your connected smart home devices to maintain ideal sleep conditions throughout the night. The app’s new Sleep time guidance feature studies your personal sleep patterns and daily schedule to suggest the best times to go to bed.
Lastly, Samsung also states how the app now gets a dedicated Mindfulness tracker that helps improve sleep quality through mood monitoring, guided breathing exercises, and meditation sessions – all accessible in one consolidated interface.
When will the new Galaxy Ring sizes be available for everyone?
Samsung Galaxy Ring’s two new sizes will be available across select markets, including India, starting January 22. That said, the company hasn’t mentioned a roll-out date for its Health app update. With all things considered, it may also be gradually rolling out for users in a phased manner.
Sleep tech seems to be in focus for the brand this year, as it also recently introduced a Good Sleep mode for its WindFree ACs. The mode works in integration with the Samsung Galaxy Watch and can modify the air conditioner temperature based on a user’s sleep cycle.
