Affordable phones are often overlooked when it comes to software support. Samsung, however, is one brand that treats most of its offerings equally in this aspect. It has been giving long software support for most of its phones lately, and it has done it again.
Samsung has launched a new 5G handset, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G, which comes with an impressive six OS upgrade promise. It also comes with a Super AMOLED display, triple cameras, and 25W fast charging support. Let’s see the phone’s specifications, features, and price.

The Galaxy A16 5G comes with a Samsung standard design. It features a 6.8-inch waterdrop-notch display with an FHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate support for smooth scrolling. It’s a Super AMOLED screen with 800 nits of brightness and support for a 1 million:1 contrast ratio.

In terms of the cameras, the device has a triple-rear camera system with a 50MP main lens for wide shots, a 5MP ultrawide lens for an even wider field of view, and a 2MP macro lens to help you click close-up shots. The device has a 13MP camera on the front for clicking selfies.
The rear as well as the front camera is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. Samsung’s camera also comes with several modes, including portrait and panorama modes, among others.
Under the hood, the Galaxy A16 5G draws power from a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, which is a 6nm chipset with Mali GPU. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage, There is also a microSD card slot for those who want more storage to store all their media.
Samsung has offered a 5,000mAh cell inside the device, which may get you more than a day’s battery, depending on your usage. It supports 25W fast charging, but don’t expect the charging adapter to be in the box, as you’d have to purchase it separately.
Now, coming to the major highlight of the device. No, the Galaxy A16 5G does not boot on Android 15 out of the box, rather it runs on Android 14 with One UI 6.1 on top. However, Samsung has promised six generations of OS upgrades, which means it will get updates till 2030.

As for the connectivity, it has dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and GPS support. It comes with a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, but lacks a 3.5mm audio jack for wired headphones. It has an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, which adds to its durability.
Samsung Galaxy A16 5G price and availability
The Galaxy A16 5G is priced at Rs 18,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant costs Rs 21,999. Buyers can get up to Rs 1,000 discount on Axis and SBI Bank Credit Cards, taking the effective price down to Rs 17,999 and Rs 20,999.
The smartphone will be available for purchase in online and offline markets, including Croma. While the Galaxy A16 5G appears to be a good device for the price, it’s always better to consider alternatives before making your final purchase decision.
