The entry-level smartphone market is not where you see the latest in cutting edge tech, but it continues to be a crucial market for making smartphones reach the masses. Most people who are new to smartphones prefer starting with something affordable and for users like this, the new Samsung Galaxy A05 may be an interesting proposition under Rs 15,000. The phone comes soon after Samsung launched the Galaxy A05s in India. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Samsung Galaxy A05: What’s new

The Samsung Galaxy A05 is a 4G smartphone, powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chip. It also packs 4GB RAM on the base variant and 6GB RAM on the top variant. These variants also come with 128GB or 256GB internal storage respectively. For users with more storage needs, both variants of the Samsung Galaxy A05 also come with a microSD card slot.

On the front of the phone is a 6.7-inch LCD display with HD+ (720p) resolution. This makes the phone quite compact, but still gives it a screen large enough for anyone to enjoy some entertainment on like videos, movies or games.

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy A05 comes with a 50MP primary camera on the back with an F1.8 aperture, along with a secondary 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the phone packs an 8MP selfie camera for video calls and selfies.

The Samsung Galaxy A05s also comes with a 5,000mAh battery, and supports up to 25W fast charging. Other features include a dual-SIM card slot, GPS, Bluetooth 5.3 support and a dedicated 3.5mm port for those who still like using wired earphones.

Samsung launches the Galaxy A05 with Android 13, topped by the OneUI 5.1 skin. The brand has also promised two years of software updates for the phone, which means the phone should get both Android 14 and Android 15.

Samsung Galaxy A05: Pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy A05 price in India starts at Rs 12,499 for the base 4GB/128GB variant and Rs 14,999 for the 6GB/256GB variant. The phone can be picked in black and green colours. You can also get phones like the Vivo Y17S or the Redmi Note 12 at that price, but if you want the look-and-feel and the perks of Samsung’s OneUI skin, you can pick the Galaxy A05.
