Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake is heading to Apple devices, including iPhones later this year. This comes a few months after the company made another Resident Evil title, Biohazard available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac in June, 2024.
The latest title coming to Apple devices isn’t actually a new game, but rather a remake of the 1998 Resident Evil 2, which was launched for PC and console in 2019. Read on to learn about the game’s mobile release date and compatible models.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is coming to these Apple devices
Resident Evil 2 Remake will launch on Apple devices, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, on December 31, 2024. While the game is coming on App Store, don’t get too excited, as it will only be compatible with select models.
The iPhone 15 Pro duo and the entire iPhone 16 lineup can run the game. That’s because AAA titles on iPhones require your iPhone to have the Apple A17 Pro chipset or later. Apart from those mentioned here, other models, unfortunately, cannot run the title.
As for iPad and Mac, all models with Apple’s M1 chip or later, running on iPadOS 17 and macOS 13, respectively, can run the game. This means you can play the game on latest iPads, including the iPad Air 11 and iPad Pro 11,13. Most new Macs, including the MacBook Air 13 and 15, and MacBook 14 and 16 will be able to run the title.

While you can play the game with touch controls on your iPhones and iPads, Apple recommends using a controller. So, any latest controller, including your Xbox Wireless Controller or the PS5 DualSense controller will be compatible.
Just like us, if you can’t wait for the game to arrive in December, you can start playing other Resident Evil titles, which are already available on Apple devices. Titles like Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: Village, and Resident Evil 7: Biozhard can be played on compatible Apple devices right away.
