Pitting the Redmi Pad Pro 5G against the Xiaomi Pad 6 makes for an interesting match-up. Both devices are similarly priced but cater to very different audiences owing to significant differences in battery life, display size, cameras, and more. So which one should you buy? Let’s figure out.
Redmi Pad Pro 5G vs Xiaomi Pad 6: Performance and storage
Interestingly, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is powered by an older but more powerful Snapdragon 870 SoC, while the Redmi Pad Pro 5G uses a newer and more energy-efficient Snapdragon 7s Gen2. Users won’t see any difference in performance between these two devices in general use, but gamers might prefer the higher peak performance of the Xiaomi Pad 6.
Both devices are available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, with storage ranging from 128GB to 256GB. One huge point in the Redmi’s favour is that it supports microSD expansion up to 1.5TB. The Xiaomi Pad 6 has no expandable storage option. They both run Xiaomi’s HyperOS, so performance on the software front is also largely similar.
Redmi Pad Pro 5G vs Xiaomi Pad 6: Battery life and charging
While both tablets support 33W fast charging, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G’s larger 10,000mAh battery and more efficient Snapdragon SoC give it an incredible 33+ days of standby time and over 16 hours of continuous use.

The Xiaomi Pad 6’s battery offers about 26 days of standby time and lower screen-on time, but for the average user, both devices should last about two days before needing a charge. The Redmi Pad has the edge here, but the Xiaomi Pad 6 isn’t far behind.
Redmi Pad Pro 5G vs Xiaomi Pad 6: Display technology
The Xiaomi Pad 6 comes with a slightly smaller 11-inch display, but it is sharper thanks to a 2.8K resolution (301 PPI). It has a refresh rate of 144Hz and supports Dolby Vision. Max brightness hits 550 nits which is great for content consumption.
The Redmi Pad Pro 5G, on the other hand, offers a 12.1-inch display with a 2.5K resolution. This brings the PPI to 249. The refresh rate is slightly lower at 120Hz while brightness is slightly higher at 600 nits. Both displays support features like AdaptiveSync, and real-time colour temperature adjustment for a more comfortable viewing experience.

Overall, both displays are great and the differences will not be very noticeable to most users. The Xiaomi Pad 6 does take a slight lead thanks to MEMC support, a feature that smooths motion in video, which is particularly beneficial when watching sports.
Redmi Pad Pro 5G vs Xiaomi Pad 6: Build and design
Both tablets are very well built and use metal bodies. The Redmi Pad is slightly heavier (571g) and thicker (7.5mm), while the smaller Xiaomi Pad 6 comes in at 490g and 6.5mm. The difference is noticeable in person and those preferring a lighter, more compact device will want the Xiaomi Pad 6. We also feel that the Xiaomi Pad 6’s camera island is a little more modern and aesthetically pleasing.
Both devices are available with keyboard covers and a stylus.
Redmi Pad Pro 5G vs Xiaomi Pad 6: Cameras
While both come with 8MP front cameras, the Xiaomi Pad 6 uses a more powerful 13MP rear camera that supports 4K recording. The Redmi Pad Pro 5G instead comes with an 8MP rear camera with support for 1080p video.
Image quality also favours the Xiaomi Pad 6, but you’ll have to take into consideration the fact that these are both large tablets and people are more likely to use these cameras as document scanners rather than at birthday parties.
Redmi Pad Pro 5G vs Xiaomi Pad 6: Connectivity
The Redmi Pad Pro 5G is the only choice if you want cellular connectivity as it supports dual-SIM. The Xiaomi Pad has no cellular connectivity. As for the rest, both get dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, and both use USB-C for wired data transfer. However, the Xiaomi Pad 6 comes with a faster USB 3.2 5Gbps port while the Redmi Pad Pro 5G only comes with a USB 2.0 rated port.

The Xiaomi Pad 6 retails at Rs 26,999 (6GB/128GB) on Croma while the Redmi Pad Pro 5G is available for Rs 24,999 (8GB/128GB). Overall, we think the newer Redmi Pad Pro 5G is a better buy. It offers more storage, 5G, a larger battery, and expandable storage at a lower price. In addition, the rest of the features are quite similar to that of the Xiaomi Pad 6. The Pad 6 isn’t bad, but it’s an older device and only worth buying if you’re getting it for a hefty discount.
