Not long after introducing a host of home and lifestyle appliances at the Xiaomi Smarter Living Event 2024, the brand has taken the wraps off the Redmi Pad Pro 5G with a launch event in China.

The tablet was rolled out shortly after the launch of the Wi-Fi variant in April. The new Redmi Pad Pro will come with dual-SIM as well as 5G network connectivity, along with a bunch of other features.

Redmi Pad Pro 5G key features to look out for

Apart from getting 5G support, the design of the tablet stays largely similar to the Wi-Fi variant. The tablet sports a 12.1-inch display with 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution along with 120Hz refresh rate. The display comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and has up to 600 nits of peak brightness.

The Redmi Pad Pro 5G gets an 8MP camera, front and back. The camera setup at the back is housed in a circular setup. The tab runs Android 14-based HyperOS and is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset.

For those who enjoy binging on OTT content, there’s support for Dolby Vision, which promises deeper contrast and sharper details. Aiding the overall experience is a set of four speakers on board, along with dual microphones.

On the storage front, the tablet will offer two variants – 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Both variants support expandable memory up to 1.5TB. Lastly, the tablet is equipped with a 10,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.

Redmi Pad Pro 5G price, availability

The Redmi Pad Pro 5G is yet to launch in India. In China, it is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 22,970) for the 128GB variant, and CNY 2,399 (roughly Rs 27,560) for the 256GB variant.

While it is too soon to tell when the tablet will reach our shores, rumours hint at a June 12 launch, alongside Xiaomi’s first-ever Civi-series smartphone launch. But until formally announced, it is best to take the news with a pinch of salt.
