Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has taken the wraps off its latest smartphone, which is a part of the Redmi K70 series. Called the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition, this smartphone is built for the outdoors, while retaining the best parts of the Redmi K70.

Redmi K70 Extreme Edition: What's there to know?

Redmi K70 Extreme Edition gets a 6.67-inch display with 144Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. Xiaomi has equipped the device with 4,000 nits of peak brightness for outdoor use and the Extreme Edition also gets a unique metal frame body. The K70 is also expected to deliver 3840Hz frequency PWM dimming and comes with glass protection.

The smartphone runs on a 4nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset with 12G, 16GB and 24GB physical RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage.

It gets a triple-camera setup, and the main 50MP camera gets a Sony IMX906 sensor. Apart from that, the phone also comes with an 8MP ultra-wide angle and a 2MP macro camera. Xiaomi has provided a 20MP front camera as well for video conferencing and selfies.

The Redmi K70 Extreme Edition is IP68 certified making it resistant to water and dust, and thus perfectly capable for outdoor adventures. Other features on the phone include an in-display fingerprint sensor for added security and a 3D ice-cooling system for thermal management. Lastly, the smartphone comes with a 5,500mAh battery pack and 120W fast charging support.

Redmi K70 Extreme Edition: Price and availability

The Redmi K70 Extreme Edition comes in Clear Snow White, Ice Blue, and Ink Feather Black colour options. Apart from these, Xiaomi has also made the smartphone available in a special Supreme Champion Edition with a custom Lamborghini back panel as well.

The Extreme Edition begins at CNY 2,599 (roughly Rs 31,000) for the base 12GB RAM, 256GB storage version. The top-end variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage costs CNY 3,599 (roughly Rs. 43,000).

The Redmi K70 Ultra Supreme Champion Edition, on the other hand, gets 24GB RAM and 1TB storage, and is priced at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 47,000).

The smartphone today is only available in China and there’s no saying if or when Xiaomi plans to bring it to the Indian market. However, until then, you can always explore other options within this price range, which include the Vivo V30 5G and the OnePlus 12R 5G.
