Redmi A4 5G with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset announced

Xiaomi, at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, announced an affordable smartphone that will soon be available to the masses in India. The Redmi A4 5G comes with a refreshed design and packs a new Snapdragon 5G-chipset.

Notably, the device also comes with NAVIC support as an IRNSS connectivity option. Let’s see the budget smartphone’s specifications, features, and availability.

Redmi A4 5G specifications and features

The Redmi A4 5G comes with an updated design when compared to the Redmi A3. The smartphone has a flat screen on the front and a circular camera island on the rear, which we will get to later.

Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the display size, however, it’s a large panel with 90Hz refresh rate support. It’s likely an IPS LCD screen with an HD+ resolution. There’s a single camera on the front for selfies. On the rear, there’s a 50MP dual-rear camera system, an upgrade over the predecessor’s 8MP dual cameras.

One of the highlights of the smartphone is the new Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, which is a budget-friendly processor that enables 5G support on the Redmi A4 5G. It’s a chipset based on the 4nm processing and it comes with a dual 12-bit ISP for camera processing.

The chipset also supports dual-frequency GNSS (L1 + L5) and comes with NAVIC support. Unfortunately, the battery details of the device are unknown, however, it is expected to pack a 5,000mAh cell. It runs on the Android operating system and boasts a 3.5mm headphone for connecting wired headphones.

According to GSMArena, Xiaomi, at IMC, highlighted the phone’s 5G capabilities, confirming that it supports fast connectivity, thanks to the 5G technology, which is rare in the segment.

Redmi A4 5G price and availability

The Redmi A4 5G’s availability details hasn’t been revealed, however, the device will be sold sometime later in India. It will be priced in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment.
