Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has launched a new smartphone in India under its A-series category. The new Redmi A3 comes with some good specifications for its price, but its standout is the huge OnePlus 12-esque camera module on the back of the phone.
Does the phone officially mark a switch to more flagship-inspired designs in the entry-level segments? Maybe it is too soon to say. However, if you are looking to buy a new affordable Android phone, here’s all you need to know about the Redmi A3.
Redmi A3: Features and specifications
The Redmi A3 comes with a 6.71-inch LCD display panel with an HD+ resolution (720p) and 90Hz refresh rate. While the display is on par with other phones in the segment, it still keeps the old water-drop style notch that honestly, should have gone extinct by now. The screen also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
On the back, the phone comes with a minimal design except for the camera island. Redmi calls this the Premium Halo Design, and the large circular camera in the middle is very reminiscent of the camera module on the OnePlus Open.

This island offers two camera sensors – an 8MP main camera and an unspecified secondary sensor. There is also a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. The Redmi A3 also comes with Android 13 (Go Edition).
Powering the phone is a MediaTek Helio G36 chip and up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone supports expandable memory up to 1TB, and also comes with features like a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and 3.5mm audio jack. Lastly the phone comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 10W charging via a USB Type C port.
Redmi A3: Pricing
The Redmi A3 is priced at Rs 7,299 for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. The 4GB/128GB variant and 6GB/128GB variant are priced at Rs 8,299 and Rs 9,299 respectively. Other phones you can consider in this segment include the Samsung Galaxy A05 and the Oppo A18, both of which offer alternate Android UIs.
