It comes as no surprise that news about air quality levels in places like Delhi already dropping to ‘very poor’ levels. But, while the air quality outside of your home may be out of your control, there are ways to improve the air quality indoors. Here are five ways to improve the air quality in your home.
Use an air purifier
As the name suggests, using an air purifier is the easiest way to clean the air inside your house. An air purifier will take in polluted air, trap harmful particles and allergens, and release back clean, breathable air into your house. Humidifier
While the main point of owning a humidifier is never to clean the air in your home, a humidifier can make the air more breathable in dryer parts of the country. This makes it a great appliance to put to work in your house, ideally alongside an air purifier.
However, if you do this, it’s a good practice to not place the humidifier close to your air purifier, as the moisture it releases can sometimes contaminate the air purifier filters over time.
Air quality monitors
Air quality monitors, also known as air quality meters or air quality sensors are great when you want to keep an eye on air quality levels. If you have patients or those with respiratory ailments in your house, this is a must-addition. Air quality monitors will help you monitor the air pollution levels in real-time and take actions accordingly.
Air quality apps
If you want to monitor the air quality in your city or locality in general, you can check out any of the several air quality checking applications that you can find for both Android phones and iPhones.
Apps like Google Maps will let you know how good or bad the air quality in your area is, and whether it is a good day to head out for a plan or not.
Mask
All the appliances and tech in your home will not be able to save you from polluted air outdoors. In unshielded areas, it is a good practice to wear a mask that will protect you from most pollutants floating around in the air. The N95 masks, in particular, are known to offer the best air-filtration when you’re on-the-move.
These are five simple ways by which you can ensure that you’re breathing clean and breathable air as much as possible, significantly reducing your risk of picking up respiratory problems.
